Gledden Building

Influenced by the New York skyscrapers of the 1920s, the Gledden Building is the sole example in Perth of an art deco, high rise office building.

When built, the design included a basement restaurant, two level shopping arcade, office accommodation and rooftop lookout, showing just how determined city planners were to put the difficult years of the Great Depression behind them and give Perth a modern, forward-thinking new look. For many years it was the tallest building in central Perth.
