William Wolf
William Wolf was born in New York City and trained as an architect in Germany, migrating to Australia in 1877. He worked in Melbourne and Sydney before setting up a successful practice in Perth in the mid 1890s.
In Melbourne it is said that Wolf colluded with builder Francis Sims on tenders for new buildings, the architect telling the builder what the winning bid should be, and then certified Sims’ shoddy work as ‘well up’. However in Perth Wolf seems to have led an exemplary life leaving the city with a legacy of very fine buildings.
