The Building
The building, in Federation Romanesque style, was the last design by George Temple Poole when he was Chief Architect of the Public Works Department in Perth. Poole’s years as government architect saw phenomenal expansion following the discovery of gold and he was responsible for the creation of over 200 buildings. In addition to the Mint, the most important of his designs are the Treasury Buildings and Lands Department.
